Sick Leave
At VMware we encourage a healthy work environment. You are entitled to take Sick Leave in accordance with statutory requirements with the understanding that sick days are solely for recuperating from an illness or injury.
Entitlement
VMware provides paid Sick Leave in accordance to the law for any illness supported by a medical certificate.
An employee is entitled to one day’s paid sick leave for every 26 days worked during the first four months of employment, and thereafter to 30 days paid sick leave for every 36 months worked (the leave cycle).
For prolonged illness you may be eligible for disability payments from the Disability Insurance Plan subject to the terms and conditions of the policy.
Payment
- In addition to the Statutory sick pay, the Company may decide, in its absolute discretion, to pay the employee their full base pay for a further sixty (60) consecutive working days’ absence.
Failure to timely provide documentary evidence of temporary disability (illness, accident, etc.), including submission of duly formalized medical certificate, may result in the Employee not being paid sick leave.
Scheduling Sick Leave
- You should notify your manager as soon as possible that you will not be coming to work due to illness or injury. If an absence is unexpected, you should notify your manager or HR Source [VMware network access required] as soon as reasonably possible.
- When absent due to illness, you must provide your manager and HR Source with a medical certificate within five (5) working days.
- Upon your return to work, enter your Sick Leave time off in Workday [VMware network access required].
