Vacation

Vacation is time away from your job for personal reasons, including vacation, outside activities and personal business. If your absence is due to your illness or a family member’s illness, you should refer to the Sick Time, Medical and/or Family Leave pages to see which type of time off is applicable.

Non-Accrued Vacation for Exempt (Salaried) Employees

VMware has a Non-Accrual Vacation (NAV) policy for all US exempt (salaried) employees. You may take time off from work when you and your manager agree, based on business needs. You should discuss your time off in advance with your manager so that business coverage is in place while you are out of the office.

While you do not need to record your time off in Workday, your manager may ask you to calendar your time off in Outlook so that others know when you are planning to be out of the office.

Please note: This information is an overview of Non-Accrued Vacation (NAV).  Refer to the NAV policy [VMware network access required] for detailed information on specific provisions related to use of Non-Accrued Vacation, including during leaves of absence, and other specific provisions.
