Bereavement

It is important to take time off following the death of a family member to attend the funeral or memorial service and take care of personal matters. VMware provides Bereavement Time Off for up to 3 paid days for local/in-state and up to 5 paid days for attending funeral/memorial services outside your home state for the death of an immediate family member. Immediate family members include:

  • Child(ren)
  • Grandchild(ren)
  • Grandparent(s)
  • Parent(s)
  • Parent(s)-in-law
  • Qualified domestic partner
  • Sibling(s)
  • Spouse

Reporting Bereavement Time

  • Discuss your Bereavement needs with your manager. You will need to work with your manager prior to reporting your Bereavement time in Workday [VMware network access required]. Bereavement time can be used only after manager approval.
  • Enter your Bereavement time in Workday. After manager approval, go into Workday [VMware network access required] to report your Bereavement Time.

In addition to Bereavement Time Off, VMware complies with any local ordinances regarding use of Sick Time for Bereavement and other applicable laws.
