VMware supports employees and their families in one of the most important times in life – the birth of a child, parentage via surrogacy, and adoption. The Paid Parental Leave (PPL) program allows both mothers and fathers to take time off from work for pregnancy disability, childbirth, placement of a child for adoption, and to bond with your new child while receiving up to eighteen (18) weeks full pay.
- Regular full time employees working twenty (20) + hours per week
- Employees are eligible upon their date of hire
- If both parents are U.S. VMware employees, both are eligible for the PPL program
- Some situations may not be covered by the PPL program, please review the Paid Parental Leave policy  [VMware network access required] for exclusions
Duration and Job Protection
Under the PPL program, mothers and fathers can take job-protected time off from work for pregnancy disability, childbirth, placement of a child for adoption, and to bond with their new child for a maximum of eighteen (18) weeks. All PPL time off will run concurrently with other leave time available, if any, under the federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) , California Family Rights Act (CFRA),  California Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL) , and any other state family leave or disability leave laws. Combining multiple leave time is not permissible and you may not use a Personal Leave of Absence  to extend your PPL time off.
If your PPL time away runs concurrently with FMLA/CFRA/California’s PDL, or other applicable leave law, you will be reinstated to the same or equivalent job in accordance with those laws. However, neither those laws nor PPL entitles you to any greater right to employment or job protection than if you had not taken the leave (for example, with respect to reductions in force).
The PPL program provides 100% of base pay for a maximum of eighteen (18) weeks. State and federal leave laws, and disability pay sources, may overlap with our Paid Parental Leave program. Employees will not be entitled to receive more than 100% of their wages during their PPL time. - Bonus Program
Under the Corporate Bonus Plan  [VMware network access required],when a bonus eligible employee is on an approved leave of absence, the employee’s target bonus will be prorated, subject to the funding of the bonus pool and all other terms and conditions of the Corporate Bonus Plan. - Commission Plan
