VMware provides Parental Leave in accordance with statutory requirements so that you can take the necessary time off work to recover and to bond with your new baby.
If you have worked for VMware for more than six (6) months, you are entitled to up to two (2) years of Parental Leave, without pay, before your child reaches the age of three (3) years old. If you are raising two or more children at the same time, the period of Parental Leave will end when the leave for the youngest child expires.
Parental Leave is not paid leave. Employees may apply for Parental Leave allowance under the Employment Insurance Act.
Scheduling Parental Leave
- Discuss your Parental Leave plans with your manager as soon as reasonably possible. This will allow adequate time for the proper arrangements to be made prior to your leave period.
- When your manager approves your Parental Leave, inform the HR Source [VMware network access required], so they may record your Parental Leave days.
For additional support and resources to consider with the addition of a child to your family, see the Birth or Adoption life event page.
