VMware supports employees and their families in one of the most important times in life – the birth or adoption of a child. Maternity Leave allows mothers to take time off in accordance with statutory requirements so that you can take the necessary time off work to recover and to bond with your baby.
All female, regular, full-time employees are entitled to Maternity Leave for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days. However, the paid leave shall not exceed Forty-five (45) days of the Maternity Leave will be paid at the rate equal to your wage on working days.
- The period of Maternity Leave may commence any time within the 30 days before the delivery date but should not be later than the day immediately following confinement.
- Employees on Maternity Leave will continue to be eligible for benefits and will continue to accrue Annual Leave. Corporate Bonus and/or commission may be pro-rated during Maternity Leave.
In the event of miscarriage/loss of pregnancy, employee may avail local miscarriage leave or global bereavement leave and not both.
Scheduling Maternity Leave
- Maternity Leave must be discussed with your manager no later than the sixth month of pregnancy. You must inform both your manager and HR Source [VMware network access required] in writing, of how and when you would like to utilize your Maternity Leave entitlement along with a medical certificate confirming your pregnancy. You can change the date you would like to start your Maternity Leave, however this change of date must be informed in writing.
- After your manager has been notified, send Maternity Leave dates along with approval email by contacting HR Source [VMware network access required] to have it recorded.
Returning to Work
While on Maternity Leave you should maintain open communication with your manager and HR Source [VMware network access required]. VMware will assume that you wish to return to work at the end of your Maternity Leave period however; you should contact HR Source [VMware network access required] towards the end of your scheduled Maternity Leave to confirm and arrange your return to work.
