VMware supports employees and their families in one of the most important times in life, the adoption of a child. Adoption Leave allows you to take time off in accordance with statutory requirements so that you can take the necessary time off work to bond with your new child.
Full-time and part-time VMware employees are eligible for paid Adoption Leave. It does not apply to agency workers or self-employed contractors.
If you are the primary carer adopting a child (in accordance with the relevant legislation), you are entitled to four (4) months of paid adoption leave, the same way as a biological mother. If you are the secondary carer, you are entitled to four (4) weeks paid paternity leave, the same way as a biological father.
Where the adoption order is made for two (2) adoptive parents, by law, one of the parents is entitled to apply for adoption leave and the other parent can apply for parental leave.
The Adoption Leave payment is inclusive of any statutory Adoption Leave and company enhancement.
Scheduling Adoption Leave
Paid Adoption Leave may be taken from the earlier of the following:
- the date on which the adoption order is granted; or
- from the date your child is placed in your care as a prospective adoptive parent by a court, pending the finalization of an adoption order.
You should inform your manager and HR Source of your Adoption Leave as soon as reasonably possible, so that proper arrangements can be made prior to your leave period. While business requirements must be taken into consideration your manager will work with you to ensure that workload does not unreasonably restrict you from taking Adoption Leave.
Please note: This information is an overview of Adoption Leave. Refer to the Poland Paid Family Leave Policy (English) [VMware network access required] and Poland Paid Family Leave Policy (Polish) [VMware network access required] for detailed information.
