Solo Parent Time Off

VMware provides Solo Parent Time Off accordance with the policy and the Solo Parents’ Welfare Act of 2000 in the Philippines (the Act).

Entitlement

If an employee is a solo parent as per the Act, the employee with at least one year’s service is entitled to seven (7) working days of paid time off per year.  The time off may be used for a variety of personal reasons, including sickness or vacation.

Carry Forward

All unused Solo Parent Time Off entitlement during the calendar year cannot be carried forward to the following calendar year and shall be non-cumulative. Any Solo Parent Time Off not taken by December 31st of a particular year will be automatically forfeited without compensation.

Cash Out

If the Solo Parent Time Off is not used within the relevant calendar year, the leave shall not be convertible to cash.

Scheduling Solo Parent Time Off

• Please present a Solo Parent Identification Card to HR Source [VMware network access required] and add your manager in watchers as soon as reasonably possible.
• Discuss your Solo Parent Time Off plans, 5 days in advance, with your manager. If an absence is unexpected, you should notify your manager as soon as possible. While business requirements must be taken into consideration, your manager will work with you to ensure that workload does not restrict you from taking Solo Parent Time Off.
• Once agreed with your manager, enter your Solo Parent Time Off in Workday [VMware network access required] under time off type Solo Parent Time Off.
