Sick Time Off
VMware encourages work-life balance and a healthy working environment. You are entitled to take sick days with the understanding that sick days are solely for recuperating from an illness or injury.
Regular, full-time employees are entitled to fourteen (14) days of Sick Time Off per year. You may also be eligible for sixty (60) days of Hospitalization Leave in a year (inclusive of 14 days of Sick Time Off) in the event you are hospitalized. If you fall sick or are incapacitated whilst on Vacation Time Off, the period of the illness can be claimed as Sick Time Off and the equivalent Vacation Time Off will be credited provided.
Sickness benefit under Social Security System
For sickness benefit under the Philippines Social Security System, employees can advance sickness benefit and claim reimbursement as per local requirements after exhausting the 14 days paid Sick Time Off benefits and the approved Prolonged Illness Leave in that relevant calendar year.
Scheduling Sick Time Off
If you are absent for reasons of illness or injury, you are required to notify the manager directly as near to starting time as possible on the first day of absence. It is VMware policy that employee speaks with manager rather than sending emails, text messages or speaking to other colleagues when intending to take Sick Time Off.
After talking with your manager, please enter your Sick Time Off time in Workday [VMware network access required] under time off type Sick Time Off. If you need more than 14 days Sick Time Off per year, please contact with HR Source [VMware network access required].
VMware reserves the right to require an Independent Medical Evaluation (IME) at a Company designated hospital. If continuous treatment or rest is required, you must present valid medical certificates and doctor’s certificates to HR Source [VMware network access required] from time to time when the current doctor’s certificate expires.
