Shared Parental Leave
VMware provides Shared Parental Leave in accordance with statutory requirements so that you can take the necessary time off work to care of your child.
Eligibility
The Shared Parental leave can be taken by the mother or father – you can decide you how wish to divide this period.

If the father takes on parts of the shared period, there is an activity requirement for the mother. This means the mother must either be working or performing other activities deemed sufficient by NAV. When you apply for Maternal/Paternal benefit to NAV (Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration) you will need to indicate how you wish to divide the shared parental period.
Payment during Shared Parental Leave
The remaining weeks during the shared period will be paid 100% or 80% depending on the length of leave you choose up to 10G of your regular salary (inclusive of statutory payments from NAV which are up to 6G).
Scheduling Shared Parental Leave
You should notify your manager and HR Source (link) of your plans as soon as reasonably possible, so that proper arrangements can be made prior to your leave period.
For additional support and resources to consider with the addition of a child to your family, see the Birth or Adoption life event page.
Returning to Work
While on Parental Leave you should maintain open communication with your manager and HR Source EMEA regarding your return to work plans.
