VMware is dedicated to work-life balance and offers a family-friendly environment that is supportive of working parents. VMware provides Maternity Leave in accordance with statutory requirements so that you can take the necessary time off work to recover and to bond with your new baby.
All regular, female employees of VMware who are pregnant or have recently given birth are eligible for Maternity Leave.
You are entitled to sixteen (16) weeks of paid Maternity Leave according to the Work and Care Act (“Wet Arbeid en Zorg“). It is granted starting six (6) weeks before the expected date of confinement. If confinement is overdue, the longer benefit period preceding childbirth is not deducted from the duration of the benefit period after the confinement. Women are not allowed to work from four (4) weeks before the expected date of confinement.
By law, during Maternity Leave, women receive a benefit equal to 100% of their normal earnings (with a daily maximum). The benefit is paid by the General Unemployment Fund.
Scheduling Maternity Leave
You should inform your manager and HR Source [VMware network access required] of your pregnancy as soon as reasonably possible, so that proper arrangements can be made prior to your leave period.
Returning to Work
While on Maternity Leave you should maintain open communication with your manager and HR Source [VMware network access required]. VMware will assume that you wish to return to work at the end of your Maternity Leave period however; you should contact HR Source [VMware network access required] towards the end of your scheduled Maternity Leave to confirm and arrange your return to work.
For additional support and resources to consider with the addition of a child to your family, see the Birth or Adoption life event page.
