For those times when you need to be absent from work for medical reasons, VMware employees are entitled to take Medical Leave, in accordance with statutory requirements, when approved by the Mexican Social Security Institution (Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social – IMSS).
All regular full-time and part-time VMware Mexico employees.
If you are on an approved IMSS Medical Leave, you will receive the following:
- Up to the first three (3) days of leave: VMware will pay each day at 100% of your base salary
- From the 4th day onwards: IMSS will pay each day at 60% of your base salary, with no additional contribution from VMware
Scheduling Medical Leave
All Medical Leave, planned or unplanned, must be discussed with your manager. If an absence is unexpected, you should notify your manager as soon as reasonably possible.
After your manager is notified, you or someone on your behalf will also need to report your Medical Leave by opening an HR Source ticket [VMware network access required] including the IMMS certification, your leave start and end date to guarantee your payments during your leave.
Returning to Work
While on Medical Leave, you should maintain open communication with your manager. Once you return to work, open an HR Source ticket [VMware network access required] confirming your leave end date return to work date.
