Personal Leave
All employees of VMware South Korea may apply for unpaid Personal Leave.
Eligibility
On a case by case basis, in its sole discretion, VMware may grant unpaid Personal Leave to employees. Considerations include the length of leave required, the purpose of the leave, whether you have taken other Personal Leaves and the impact of such leave on VMware’s ability to execute its business.
Benefits and Service
If you take a Personal Leave your length of service will stop accruing for the duration of your leave. You will also not be eligible for Flexible Benefits and child school expense support during this time.
Conduct During Leave
While on Childcare Leave you are still considered a VMware employee and must continue to comply with all rules of conduct, including the Business Conduct Guidelines [VMware network access required]. During your leave, you may not work at another company without prior approval from VMware. If you work at another company, while out on leave, without pre-approval, you will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Scheduling Personal Leave
You should inform your manager and HR Source [VMware network access required] of your desire to take Personal Leave so that proper arrangements can be made prior to the leave period. Approval from your manager and HR Source [VMware network access required] is required.
Returning to Work
At least two (2) weeks prior to returning to work, you must contact your manager and HR Source [VMware network access required] to discuss reinstatement.
For all leaves that are more than ninety (90) days, if the previous position is no longer available, VMware will attempt to place you in a comparable role. If no comparable role is available, or if you reject the comparable role, you will be provided with 30 days notice and will exit VMware. If you do not return from leave, you will be subject to disciplinary action.
