Paternity Leave

VMware believes that leave is an instrument of work-life balance and recognizes that fathers play an important role in raising children. To support this, VMware provides Paternity Leave so that you can take the necessary time off work to bond with your new baby.

Eligibility

To be eligible for Paternity Leave you must be the biological / adoptive father of the child or the mother’s husband or partner; and have, or expect to have, responsibility for the child’s upbringing.

Entitlement

If you have new-born child(ren) or newly adopted child(ren) join your family, you are eligible for up to four (4) paid weeks to bond with your new child(ren). You will have one (1) year from the date of birth or legal placement into your home to take advantage of these four weeks. The four (4) weeks can be taken all at once or in weekly increments.

Paternity Leave must be taken within twelve (12) months of the birth or placement for adoption.

Returning to Work

While on Paternity Leave, you should maintain open communication with your manager. VMware will assume that you wish to return to work at the end of your Paternity Leave period. However, you should contact HR Source [1] [VMware network access required] towards the end of your leave to confirm your return to work.
