VMware supports employees and their families in one of the most important times in life – the birth or adoption of a child. Maternity Leave allows mothers to take time off in accordance with statutory requirements so that you can take the necessary time off work to recover and to bond with your baby.
All regular full-time employees who have at continuous service with VMware prior to date of delivery will be eligible. and having given prior notice of pregnancy to the employer is entitled to the following Maternity Leave.
VMware provides 90 calendar days (120 days in case of multiple births) of maternity leave for female employees who have a baby. A minimum of 45 contiguous days (60 days in case of multiple births) of the Maternity Leave are to be taken in the immediate 45 days after the date of delivery. A medical certificate specifying the expected date of child’s birth must be submitted together with the application of leave.
In the event of miscarriage or stillbirth, the following leave will be provided:

|For miscarriage or stillbirth before 16 weeks of gestation||10 – 30 days from date of miscarriage or stillbirth as needed per medical certificate|
|For miscarriage or stillbirth between 12 and 15 weeks of gestation||10 days from date of miscarriage or stillbirth|
|For miscarriage or stillbirth before 12 weeks of gestation||5 days from date of miscarriage or stillbirth|
VMware provides 1 day of unpaid prenatal examination leave in each calendar month for pregnant female employees. Prenatal examination leave is not accrued and shall be taken in a full day unit of eight (8) hours.
For the first 60 days of maternity leave (75 days in case of multiple births), 100% of the ordinary wage shall be paid. For the remainder of the 90 days, you should apply for the government maternity subsidy. Both service tenure and Annual Leave continue to accrue during your Maternity Leave.
Scheduling Maternity Leave
- Maternity Leave must be discussed with your manager as soon as reasonably possible so that they have adequate advance notice of your intent to take Maternity Leave and proper arrangements can be made prior to the leave period. If an absence is unexpected, you should notify your manager as soon as reasonably possible.
