Maternity Leave

VMware provides Maternity Leave in accordance with statutory requirements so that you can take the necessary time off work to recover and to bond after the birth of your child.

Supplemental benefits are provided through the ITS Health Insurance Association (HIA) scheme.

Entitlement

If you are a pregnant female employee, Maternity Leave shall be granted for the following periods:

  • From the date you make a leave request until the date of childbirth, but not earlier than forty-two (42) days (ninety-eight (98) days in the case of multiple pregnancy) prior to the expected date of childbirth; and
  • For fifty-six (56) days after childbirth; provided, however, that when you request to work after forty-two (42) days from the date of childbirth, you may be assigned to a job that a doctor deems to be unharmful to you

Payments

The HIA provides employees on Maternity Leave with a maternity allowance in which 2/3 of the daily standard remuneration, for forty-two (42) days before (ninety-eight (98) days for expected multiple births) and fifty-six (56) days after the expected date of childbirth. If an employee receives wages, benefits are suspended or partially reduced.

Scheduling Maternity Leave

  • Discuss your leave plans with your manager and inform HR Source [VMware network access required]. You may request Maternity Leave anytime forty-two (42) days (ninety-eight (98) days in the case of a multiple pregnancy) prior to the expected date of childbirth.
  • When applying for Maternity Leave, you should state the expected date of childbirth and the date in which you wish to be on Maternity Leave.

Returning to Work

You are expected to return to work fifty-six (56) days after the birth of your child(ren). If you requests to return to work after forty-two (42) days from the date of childbirth, you may be assigned to a job that a doctor deems to be unharmful to you. You should contact HR Source [VMware network access requiredtowards the end of leave to confirm and arrange your return to work.
