Childcare Leave

VMware supports you and your family with Childcare Leave, so that you can care for and bond with your new child.

Eligibility

If you have been employed by VMware for more than one (1) year, you are eligible for Childcare Leave, if you live with and raise a child (including an adopted child) who is younger than one (1) year of age.

Entitlement

The total period of your Maternity Leave and Childcare Leave must be taken after your child’s birth and may not exceed a period of one (1) year. If you have specific situation and want to extend your Childcare Leave, please refer to the Act on Childcare Leave. Leave requests may only be submitted once per child and twins and other multiple births shall be deemed as one (1) child.

Payment

Childcare Leave is an unpaid leave. You will not receive your salary while on leave. If your leave period is during the bonus calculation period, your bonus will be calculated per diem and paid based on your number of actual work days in the bonus period. The set annual salary increase will not be made during your Childcare Leave period, but your salary upon reinstatement shall not be lower than the salary paid prior to your Childcare Leave.

Scheduling Childcare Leave

You must inform your manager and HR Source [VMware network access required] at least one (1) month prior to the start of your Childcare Leave, so that proper arrangements can be made. You must submit a Childcare Leave request to HR Source [VMware network access required] at the time of your request. HR Source [VMware network access required] may ask your to also submit the minimum necessary certifications prior to the start of your leave. When your child is born, you have two (2) weeks, after the birth, to submit a notification of the birth.

Returning to Work

When you return to work after your Childcare Leave, you shall return to the department and position that was in effect prior to the start of your leave. If you wish and/or there are unavoidable circumstances which require an organizational change, etc., your department and/or position may be changed.  In such case, the determination and notification of such change shall officially be made at least one (1) month prior to the final day of of your leave.
