VMware provides Study and Exam time off in accordance with statutory requirements.
Eligibility and Entitlement
You may be entitled to time off while studying and to take exams.
If you are a school or university student, you may be entitled to paid leave to take exams and a further five days (40 hours) to prepare for them.
If you have a minimum of four years seniority, you may be eligible for a maximum of 11 months unpaid leave (all together or in increments) to attend schools, universities or other educational training. For leave of five days or fewer, you must give at least 30 days of notice. For leave of more than five days, you must give at least 60 days of notice.
If you have successfully completed your probation period, you may be eligible for up to 150 hours paid leave, within a three-year period, to study for public or certified private school courses (primary, secondary or professional schools) or in university courses or masters. You must give three months of notice to request these leaves.
Scheduling Study and Exam Time Off
- Discuss your Study and Exam time off plans in advance with your manager to agree on dates. While business requirements must be taken into consideration, your manager will work with you to ensure that work load does not restrict you from taking Study and Exam time off.
- Contact HR Source [VMware network access required] who will verify whether or not you are eligible to paid or unpaid Study and Exam time off and will support you with any queries you may have on the time off plan.
- Once agreed with your manager and verified with HR Source, enter your Study and Exam time off in Workday  [VMware network access required] under time off type Study/Exams Time Off (Days) or Study/Exams Time Off (Days) – unpaid.
- For all of the Study and Exam time off cases mentioned above, you will be required to give proof of sitting the exam or enrolling in and attending the relevant course.
