Sick Leave
At VMware we encourage a healthy work environment. You are entitled to take Sick Leave in accordance with statutory requirements with the understanding that sick days are solely for recuperating from an illness or injury.
Unless otherwise indicated, the purpose of this page is to summarise the local legal provisions in force at the time of publishing. This page is for guidance and information only. Where there is a conflict with this information and the local law, the local law will prevail.
From time to time, we may revise this information to maintain compliance with local law. It does not form part of your contract of employment with VMware.
Entitlement
Dirigenti employees will receive 100% of pay from VMware for up to one (1) year of sickness.
During sick leave, non-Dirigenti employees will receive an indemnity of 100% pay from VMware for the first three days, 75% of salary from the 4th to the 20th day from the Social Insurance programs and 100% from the 21st to the 180th day (the company tops up to 100% the benefit paid by Social Insurance).
Non-Dirigenti Treatment in case of Sick Leave:
Sick for | Payment |

1-3 Days | 100% of salary from VMware |
4-20 Days | 75% of salary from Social Security |
21-180 Days | 100% of salary (VMware will top up to 100% of the benefit paid by Social Insurance) |
Scheduling Sick Leave
All Sick Leaves planned or unplanned, must be discussed with your manager. If an absence is unexpected, you should notify your manager as soon as possible.
Please, email your medical certificates to Payroll (open a Helpnow ticket or email Payroll) and to the Office Manager, Anna Berardi.
Returning to Work
- Contact your manager to confirm your return to work date.
- Record your Sick Leave days in Workday [VMware network access required]. You may record your leave in blocks of 8 hours (1 day) or 4 hours (half day).
