Short Term Disability

VMware does not provide supplemental Short-Term Disability insurance as those benefits are provided by VMware and the Social Insurance Programs in accordance with statutory requirements and applicable NCBAs.

Unless otherwise indicated, the purpose of this page is to summarise the local legal provisions in force at the time of publishing. This page is for guidance and information only. Where there is a conflict with this information and the local law, the local law will prevail.

From time to time, we may revise this information to maintain compliance with local law. It does not form part of your contract of employment with VMware.

Eligibility

All regular employees of VMware are eligible for Short Term Disability (STD) benefits.

Benefits

Dirigenti employees will receive 100% of pay from VMware for up to one (1) year of sickness/after an injury at work.

During sick leave, non-Dirigenti employees will receive an indemnity of 100% pay from VMware for the first three days, 75% of salary from the 4th to the 20th day from the Social Insurance programs and 100% from the 21st to the 180th day (the company tops up to 100% the benefit paid by Social Insurance).

Non-Dirigenti Treatment in case of Sick Leave

Sick for Payment
1 to 3 days 100% of salary from VMware
4 days to 20 days 75% of salary from Social Security
21 days to 180 days 100% of salary (VMware will top up to 100% of the benefit paid by Social Insurance)

In case of injury at work, from the first day following the day of the accident, the employer will pay the non-Dirigente, absent due to short term disability resulting from an accident at work, an integration to the allowance paid by National Institution for Insurance Against Accidents at Work – (INAlL) to obtain the following measures overall:

1) 60% for the first three days;

2) 90% for the 5th to 20th days;

3) 100% for the days from the 21st onwards of the net daily salary to which the Non-Dirigente would have been entitled in the normal course of the relationship.

For the period after the 180th day, the accrual of salary and of all contractual and legal items, including length of service, is excluded.

Long-Term Disability for Dirigenti Employees

VMware provides Long-Term Disability (LTD) Insurance to Dirigenti employees through the “Antonio Pastore” fund, as set by the National Collective Agreement.

Eligibility

All Dirigenti employees of VMware are eligible for LTD insurance in accordance to the terms and conditions (T&Cs) of the Antonio Pastore convention in force from time to time («Convention»).

Benefits

Dirigenti employees are provided the following benefit through the “Antonio Pastore” fund, as set by the National Collective Agreement.

Enrolment

Dirigenti employees are automatically enrolled in the LTD insurance, in accordance with the T&Cs of the Convention.

Contributions

Contributions are included in the Antonio Pastore fund contributions.

When Coverage Begins

Coverage will begin on your first day of active work as a VMware employee, in accordance to the age limitations provided by the Convention.

When Coverage Ends

Coverage will end on the last day of your employment with VMware, unless you decide to voluntarily continue to pay the contributions for the cover («Prosecuzione Volontario») in accordance to the T&Cs provided by the Convention.
