Annual Leave

Annual Leave provides all VMware employees with paid time off from your job for personal reasons including: vacation, outside activities, scheduled medical appointments, and personal business. If your absence is due to an illness or injury, you should refer to the Sick Leave page.

Entitlement

Annual Leave Entitlement Holiday year
23 working days + public holidays First holiday year
24 working days + public holidays Second and third holiday years
25 working days + public holidays Fourth and subsequent holiday years

VMware’s  holiday year runs from January 1st to December 31st. The calendar year in which you are hired is considered your first holiday year.

Carry Forward

VMware will allow the carryover of five (5) days. These five (5) days are to be taken within the first three (3) months of the next holiday year. Workday [VMware network access required] will automatically delete any days in excess of five (5) days on January 1st, annually.

Cash Out

Payment cannot be made for untaken leave under Irish employment legislation.

Scheduling Annual Leave

  • Discuss your Annual Leave plans, in advance, with your manager. While business requirements must be taken into consideration, your manager will work with you to ensure that work load does not restrict you from taking Annual Leave.
  • Once agreed with your manager enter your Annual Leave time off in Workday [VMware network access required] under time off type Vacation Time Off (Hours).
