VMware supports employees and their families in one of the most important times in life – the Birth of a child. Maternity Leave is provided in accordance with statutory requirements so that you can take the necessary time off work to recover and bond with your baby.
Full-time, female employees, regardless of marital status, who have been in continuous, regular full-time employment for no less than forty (40) weeks immediately prior to the commencement of their scheduled Maternity Leave, are eligible for fourteen (14) weeks of leave. A valid medical certificate is required prior to your Maternity Leave. If you are absence from work to attend a medical examination in relation to your pregnancy or post confinement medical treatment this hall be counted as Sick Leave. A valid medical certificate will be required.
In the event of miscarriage/loss of pregnancy, employee may avail local miscarriage leave or global bereavement leave and not both.
You will receive 80% of your salary during your Maternity Leave. The salary is average daily salary in the past 12-month period. If you are employed for less than 12 months, the calculation shall be based on the shorter period.
Any Remuneration Review due during your Maternity Leave will take place upon your return to work. Such review will reflect your performance during any period worked since the last review.
Scheduling Maternity Leave
You should inform your manager and provide a doctor’s certificate to HR Source [VMware network access required] of your pregnancy as soon as reasonably possible. This will allow adequate time for the proper arrangements to be made prior to your leave period. The start date of maternity leave should be within a period of not less than 2 weeks before, and not more than 4 weeks before, the expected date of confinement.
Returning to Work
While on Maternity Leave, you should maintain open communication with your manager and HR Source [VMware network access required]. VMware will assume that you wish to return to work at the end of your Maternity Leave period; however, you should contact HR Source [VMware network access required] towards the end of leave to confirm and arrange your return to work.
