Annual Leave provides you with paid time off from your job for personal reasons including: vacation, outside activities, scheduled medical appointments, and personal business. If your absence is due to an illness or injury, you should refer to the Sick Leave [1] page.
Eligibility
Both full and part time employees are eligible for Annual Leave. It does not apply to agency workers or self-employed contractors.
Entitlement
Your Annual Leave entitlement is calculated based on your service at the beginning of the holiday year. VMware’s holiday year runs from 1st January to 31st of December. Unless stated in your contract of employment, you will be entitled to the following periods of Annual Leave:
- Twenty-five (25) working days in your first four (4) holiday years
- Twenty-eight (28) working days in your fifth and succeeding holiday years
The maximum entitlement is twenty-eight (28) days.
Carry Forward
Subject to prior manager approval, a maximum of five (5) days of untaken holiday may be carried over from holiday year to the next. Carried over holiday will be forfeited if not taken in the first three (3) months in the next holiday year.
Scheduling Annual Leave
- Discuss your Annual Leave plans, in advance, with your manager. While business requirements must be taken into consideration, your manager will work with you to ensure that work load does not restrict you from taking Annual Leave.
- Once agreed with your manager enter your Annual Leave time off in Workday [2] [VMware network access required] under time off type Vacation Time Off (Hours).
Note: This information is an overview of Annual Leave. Refer to the UK Time Away From Work Policy [3] [VMware network access required] for detailed information.
