Short and Long Term Disability

Short Term Disability

VMware provides Short Term Disability (STD) benefits through the Life Insurance plan, with Malakoff Humanis (MH), for all regular employees.

Waiting Period

Short Term Disability benefits will be payable after thirty (30) days, reduced to three (3) days in case of accident or hospitalization.

Benefits

If you should become disabled, you will receive a monthly income replacement benefit up to 80% of Tranche’s A/B/C of the annual gross salary (including social security benefits).

Definition of Disablement

Disability is defined as the inability to work due to sickness of injury. Any doctor may confirm the disability.

Enrolment

Since Short Term Disability (STD) is part of the Life Insurance plan, you are automatically enrolled in this coverage when you enrol in Life insurance.

Contributions

The Short Term Disability (STD) benefits are provided through the Life Insurance plan. VMware pays 100% of TA and 65% of TB, TC for the Life Insurance.

  • TA: Tranche A: portion of the wage limited to the annual social security ceiling
  • TB: Tranche B: portion of the wage between 1 to 4 times the annual social security ceiling
  • TC: Tranche C: portion of the wage between 4 to 8 times the annual social security ceiling

When Coverage Begins

Coverage will begin on your first day of active work as a VMware employee.

When Coverage Ends

Coverage will end on the last day of your employment with VMware.

Long Term Disability

VMware provides Long Term Disability (LTD) benefits through the Life Insurance plan, with Malakoff Humanis (MH), for all regular employees.

Waiting Period

Long Term Disability benefits will be payable once you have been declared permanently disabled.

Benefits

In the event that you should become permanently disabled, you will receive benefits based on the degree of incapacity:

  • 1st category: 45% of Trances A and 40% of trances B/C of the annual gross salary (including Social Security benefits)
  • 2nd and 3rd categories: 80% of Tranches A/B/C of the annual gross salary (including Social Security benefits)

Definition of Disablement

Disability is defined as inability to perform any job due to sickness of injury. The Social Security doctors determine whether you are declared « disabled ».
