Welcome to VMware! Regular full-time or part-time employees who work 20 or more scheduled hours per week are eligible to enroll in VMware benefit plans.

You have 30 days from your date of hire to enroll in your benefits. Be sure to take the time to review your benefit options before you enroll.

Looking For Your ID Card?

While you are covered from your date of hire, it can take up to 3 weeks before you receive your ID card from UnitedHealthcare, CVS Caremark or Kaiser. If you need to seek care, contact the health plan that you enroll in for assistance. Your carrier’s name, phone number, and group number are available on our Contacts [25] page. Delta Dental and the Vision Service Plan (VSP) do not require ID cards.

Savings & Spending Accounts [26]

New HSA participants must satisfy any USA PATRIOT Act of 2001 identity verification needs requested by HealthEquity before funds can be deposited into your HSA.

Please note, if you have made any pre-tax or post-tax contribution into your previous employer HSA accounts, it is your responsibility to ensure that you do not exceed the annual IRS maximum limit in the plan year. You will need to make sure you adjust your VMware contribution to accommodate for those early contributions made. If this situation occurs, please contact HealthEquity [27] (HSA Administrator) to complete the appropriate Return of Excess Contribution form available on the portal. Contributions will not be refunded through VMware payroll See the HSA FAQ [28] for more information.

**If you are not eligible for an HSA, you have the option to enroll in the HSA PPO non-eligible HSA plan. You are still able to receive the VMware funding, however it will appear as a taxable bonus on your paycheck instead of being deposited into a HealthEquity [27] [VMware network access required] account.

401(k) Savings Plan [30]

New Hires are automatically enrolled with a 6% pre-tax deferral contribution. You may change this election approximately 2 weeks after your hire date at [31]. (Rehires, Interns or Transfers into the US must actively enroll to participate).

Don’t forget that if you participated in another employer’s plan during the calendar year, you will need to notify the Payroll team to report your year-to-date contribution amounts to help prevent you from exceeding the IRS limits for the calendar year. To report your YTD contribution, please open a Payroll Support [32] ticket [VMware network access required].

If you don’t take action, you will be opted out of health coverage and will not be able to enroll unless you have a Qualified Life Event [55] and report it within 30 days of the event – 60 days for Birth/Adoption [56] life events.
