Short and Long Term Disability

Short Term Disability

No supplemental Short Term Disability insurance is provided as Short Term Disability benefits are per statutory requirements through salary continuation and Social Insurance. Disability is defined as fully unable to work. A reduced benefit is payable if partly unable to work.

Eligibility

All regular employees of VMware are eligible for Short Term Disability benefits.

Waiting Period

Short Term Disability benefits will be payable on the first day of illness.

Benefits

If you should become disabled, you will receive 100% of your salary for up to two weeks. After this point, or if you do not meet the qualifying conditions, benefits are paid from the sickness fund. National sickness benefits are payable weekly, for up to 52 weeks in any 18-month period. The local council is responsible for checking up on the recipient every 8th week as long as the sickness benefits are paid.

Long Term Disability

VMware provides Long Term Disability (LTD) Insurance through the Retirement plan.

Eligibility

All regular full and part-time employees of VMware are eligible for Long Term Disability (LTD) insurance from the first day of active work as a VMware employee.

Waiting Period

Long Term Disability (LTD) benefits will be payable after three (3) months of incurrence of inability to work.

Benefits

In the event that you should become unable to work due to sickness or injury, you will receive 40% of earnings (basic salary plus overtime and certain types of bonus). You can choose to purchase additional cover of up to 40% of earnings to a maximum of DKK 800,000 in annual benefit (2018).

Free Cover Limit

You automatically qualify for Long Term Disability insurance up to base cover of 40 – 80% of monthly salary if you are healthy and able to work.

Enrollment

You are automatically enrolled in the Long Term Disability (LTD) insurance and insured for amounts under the free cover limit listed below. In order to qualify for insurance amounts exceeding the free cover limit you need to provide additional health information according to the all time current short health questionnaire from the pension provider

Contributions

Contribution for Long Term Disability (LTD) insurance is included in the total pension contribution.

When Coverage Begins

Coverage will begin from your first day of active work as a VMware employee.

When Coverage Ends

Coverage will end on the last day of your employment with VMware unless continued privately.
