VMware provides Parental Leave in accordance with statutory requirements (Bundeselterngeld- und Elternzeitgesetz – BEEG) so that you can take the necessary time off work to take care of your child.
To be eligible for Parental Leave you must be the mother or father of a child under the age of eight (8) years and have responsibility for the child’s upbringing.
Either parent may take up to thirty-six (36) months as full time leave or reduced working hours. Parental Leave can be divided into four parts. With the agreement of VMware, one part of up to twelve (12) months can be taken until the child’s eighth birthday. You may take full time leave or reduce working hours of up to thirty (30) hours per week.
For up to fourteen (14) months after the birth of your child, the state pays an allowance to parents on Parental Leave adding up to 67% of the last average net income during the last twelve (12) calendar months before the birth of your child, however, a maximum of EUR 1,800 and a minimum of EUR 300 per month.
Scheduling Parental Leave
You should inform your manager and HR Source  [VMware network access required] of your plans at least seven (7) weeks in advance, so that proper arrangements can be made prior to your leave period.
Returning to Work
While on Parental Leave you should maintain open communication with your manager and HR Source  [VMware network access required]. VMware will assume that you wish to return to work at the end of your Parental Leave period however; you should contact HR Source  [VMware network access required] towards the end of your scheduled Parental Leave to confirm and arrange your return to work.
