Sick Time Off
At VMware we encourage a healthy work environment. You are entitled to take Sick Time Off in accordance with statutory requirements with the understanding that sick days are solely for recuperating from an illness or injury.
Entitlement
Days sick in any calendar year | Compensation |

Up to 5 days short term sick time off | Full regular salary paid by the Company. Does not count against statutory sick leave |
6th – 40th day of sickness | Full regular salary paid by the Company (less any statutory sickness benefits you receive). Paid subject to provision of medical certificate and compliance with any other statutory requirements |
From the 41st day of sickness | Employees are entitled to statutory sickness benefits only, subject to provision of medical certificate and other statutory requirements. Paid by Statutory Sickness Insurance |
Medical Evidence
For sick leave in excess of 5 days, a medical certificate will be required. Failure to timely provide documentary evidence of temporary disability (illness, accident, etc.), including submission of duly formalized medical certificate may result in the Employee not being paid sick leave.
Scheduling Sick Time Off
You should notify your manager as soon as possible that you will not be coming to work due to illness or injury. Once you notified your manager of your sickness, record your time in Workday [VMware Network Access Required] under CZ Sick (Short Term) Time Off.
When absent due to illness, you must provide your manager and HR Source EMEA [VMware network access required] with a medical certificate if your illness last longer than five (5) working days.
Caring for Sick children /relatives
You are entitled to time off for caring for a family member or child. 9 days statutory entitlement 16 days for single parent. Once you discussed with your intended time off with your manager, ensure that you record this in Workday.
