Sick Time
At VMware we encourage a healthy work environment. You are entitled to take Sick Time, with the understanding that sick time days are to be used solely for recovering from an illness or injury that is not covered by the social security administration “Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social” (CCSS). Illnesses and injuries that are covered by CCSS are covered by Medical Leave.
Eligibility
All Costa Rica Regular full-time and part-time employees and interns who are employed directly by VMware.
Entitlement
You are entitled to forty-eight (48) hours of paid Sick Time days per calendar year, which is the equivalent of six (6) eight (8) hour days. Sick Time days may be taken in minimum increments of four (4) hours. Sick Time days are paid at 100% of your base salary.
Sick Time days are not eligible for carry-over. Unused balances expire at the end of the calendar year, and a new balance will be credited at the beginning of the new calendar year.
Scheduling Sick Time
- All Sick Time days planned or unplanned, must be discussed with your manager. If an absence is unexpected, you should notify your manager as soon as reasonably possible.
- Record your Sick Time days via Workday [VMware network access required] as ‘CRI Sick Leave (Short Term)’.
