Annual Leave
Annual Leave provides you with paid time off from your job that allows you to be paid while having time off from work for personal reasons including:
- Rest
- Recreation
- Vacation
Eligibility
VMware provides all employees fifteen (15) days of Annual Leave per calendar year. If you do not work for a full calendar year, your Annual Leave will be pro-rated based on: number of months in service ÷ 12 x 15. Annual Leave must be requested in advance in writing and approved prior to taking. For new hires & leavers, your first year and last year of entitlement will be prorated accordingly.
Floating Days Off (FDO)
VMware provides five (5) Floating Days Off (FDO) per calendar year. FDOs are non-cashable, use it or lose it days of paid time off. FDOs are scheduled by VMware. VMware will schedule the FDO at the beginning of the year, and you should follow the schedule accordingly.
Carry Forward
Annual Leave not used can be carried forward for a maximum of five (5) days to the following calendar year. Exceeding credit will be cancelled without any payment or credit in other forms.
Cash Out
Unless otherwise required under applicable law, cashing out Annual Leave is not permitted except at the time you resign or cease to be employed for any reason.
Scheduling Annual Leave
- Discuss your Annual Leave plans, in advance, with your manager. If an absence is unexpected, you should notify your manager as soon as possible. While business requirements must be taken into consideration, your manager will work with you to ensure that work load does not restrict you from taking Vacation time.
- Once agreed with your manager, enter your Annual Leave in Workday [VMware network access required] under time off type Vacation Time Off. Workday will display leave time on an hourly basis, you may record your leave in blocks of 8 hours (1 day) or 4 hours (half day).
