VMware supports employees and their families in one of the most important times in life – the birth of a child. Maternity Leave is provided in accordance with statutory requirements so that you can take the necessary time off work to recover and bond with your baby.
All permanent, full-time, female, employees are eligible for paid Maternity Leave of one hundred and twenty-eight (128) days. VMware will grant extra paid leave in accordance to the local laws of each city.
In the event of miscarriage/loss of pregnancy, you may avail local miscarriage leave or global bereavement leave and not both.
Your base salary will be paid at 100% during your Maternity Leave. Incentives will be paid according to achievement with respect to relevant incentive guidelines.
Scheduling Maternity Leave
You should inform your manager and the HR Source [VMware network access required] of your pregnancy as soon as reasonably possible. This will allow adequate time for the proper arrangements to be made prior to your leave period. Maternity leave start date can be 15 days at most prior to the date of the expected delivery, and no later than the expected delivery date.
Returning to Work
While on Maternity Leave, you should maintain open communication with your manager and the HR Source [VMware network access required]. VMware will assume that you wish to return to work at the end of your Maternity Leave period; however, you should contact HR Source [VMware network access required] towards the end of your leave to confirm and arrange your return to work.
For additional support and resources to consider with the addition of a child to your family, see the Birth or Adoption life event page.
Please note: This information is an overview of maternity leave. Refer to the China Employee Handbook [VMware network access required] for detailed information.
