Maternity Leave

VMware supports employees and their families in one of the most important times in life – the birth of a child. Maternity Leave allows mothers to take time off in accordance with statutory requirements so that you can take the necessary time off work to recover and to bond with your new baby.

Eligibility

Maternity benefits are available to VMware Chile employees who are active with the company.

Entitlement

As per statutory requirement, 6 weeks of maternity leave are granted before birth, and 12 weeks of maternity leave are granted after birth.

Additionally, as per statutory requirement, after the maternity leave period concludes, employees are entitled to:

  • Post-birth parental period of 12 weeks off, with a subsidy pay of a 100%
  • or
  • Post-birth parental period of 18 weeks, at part-time shift, and with a subsidy pay of 50%

Scheduling Maternity Leave

Inform your manager of your pregnancy and your Maternity Leave as soon as reasonably possible. This will allow adequate time for the proper arrangements to be made prior to your leave period.

Open an HR Source ticket [VMware network access required] to report your Leave and include your leave’s start, end date and medical certificate.

Returning to Work

Once you return to work, open an HR Source ticket [VMware network access required] confirming your leave end date and return to work date.

Breastfeeding Period

Employees with a child in the breastfeeding period may request two daily work breaks of a half hour duration. The breastfeeding period applies up to one year after birth.
