Sick Leave
At VMware we encourage a healthy work environment. You are entitled to take Sick Leave in accordance with statutory requirements with the understanding that sick days are solely for the purpose of recuperating from an illness or injury impacting you or a dependent.
Entitlement
Canton of Zurich (Zurich):

Less than 1 year | 3 weeks |
1 year of service | 8 weeks |
2 years or more of service | An Additional week per year |
Insured Benefits
The insurance company provides a daily allowance of 90% of the insured salary after a waiting period of sixty (60) days for disability due to sickness. The first 60 days of sickness will be paid by VMware.
To receive your daily allowance benefit outlined above you need to submit your sick certificate to Payroll. Your daily allowance will be paid through Payroll and not paid directly the insurer. For more information please see the Short Term Disability page.
Scheduling Sick Leave
All Sick Leaves planned or unplanned, must be discussed with your manager. If an absence is unexpected, you should notify your manager or HR Source [VMware network access required] as soon as reasonably possible.
