Life and Accidental Death & Disablement

Life Insurance

VMware provides Life Insurance for all regular employees with an annual salary exceeding CHF 21,150 (threshold for the occupational benefit plan).

Benefits

If you die while in the service of VMware due to illness or injury your beneficiaries will receive the following benefits:

• Lump sum of 2 x On Target Earnings
• Spouse’s/partner’s pension is the sum of:
  • 30% of the On Target Earnings up to CHF 85,320
  • 36% for salary above CHF 85,320
• Orphan’s pension is the sum of:
  •  10 % of the On Target Earnings up to CHF 85,320
  •  12 % for salary parts above CHF 85,320

Free Cover Limit

The free cover limit depends on the insured benefits and is defined by the insurer.

Enrolment

VMware is obliged to enrol you in the pension plan by sending an application form to the insurer who will contact you should you need to fill in a medical questionnaire and/or do a medical examination.

When Coverage Begins

Coverage will begin on your first day of active work at VMware.

When Coverage Ends

Coverage will end 30 days after the last day of your employment at VMware in case you are not immediately insured in the pension plan of the new employer.

Accidental Death and Disablement

VMware provides Accidental Death & Disablement Insurance for all regular employees.

Benefits

If you should die or become permanently disabled due to an accident while in the service of VMware you and/or your beneficiaries will receive the following:

• Disability pension: 80% of the insured salary
• Spouse’s pension: 40% of the insured salary
• Orphan’s pension: 15% of the insured salary
• Double orphan’s pension: 25% of the insured salary
• Insured salary is the On Target Earnings salary capped at CHF 350,000

The sum of all the above benefits is not to exceed 90% of gross annual salary (including state social security benefits).

On top of the annuities, you or your beneficiaries will receive:

• Disability lump sum of 200% of the insured salary
• Death lump sum of 200% of the insured salary (paid from VMware pension plan)

Enrolment

You are automatically enrolled in the Accidental Death and Disablement insurance.

When Coverage Begins

Coverage will begin on your first day of active work at VMware.

When Coverage Ends

Coverage will end 31 days after the last day of your employment at VMware for mandatory accident (up to CHF 148,200) and 30 days after the last day of your employment at VMware for the pension plan, should you not be immediately covered in the insurance program of the new employer. Benefits from the additional accident will end on your last day of employment at VMware.
