Military Leave
If you are a military reservist as defined in section 15(3) of the National Defense Act, and you are deployed to an international operation or to an operation within Canada that is or will be providing assistance in dealing with an emergency or its aftermath (including search and rescue operations), you are entitled under the Employment Standards Act of Ontario (see if there is any other provincial legislation) to unpaid leave for the time necessary to engage in that operation.
In the case of an operation outside of Canada, that would include pre-deployment and post-deployment activities that are required by the Canadian Forces, you are also eligible for unpaid leave.
Scheduling Military Leave
Inform your manager of your Leave as soon as reasonably possible. This will allow adequate time for the proper arrangements to be made prior to your leave period.
Open an HR Source ticket [VMware network access required] to report your Leave. Include a written notification, your leave’s start and end date of leave.
Returning to Work
Once you return to work, open an HR Source ticket [VMware network access required] confirming your leave end date and return to work date.
