Time Away from Work

Taking time off to take care of personal matters is important. For this reason, VMware provides time off offerings to support your needs.

Entitlement

You are entitled to the following plans:

BR Breastfeeding

Employees who are mother of a child up to 6 months of age are entitled to one (1) hour per day of breastfeeding. The leave can be split into two (2) periods of thirty (30) minutes or used into one (1) hour.

BR Dental leave

Dental Appointments are allowed for all VMware Brazil employees by presenting a doctor`s certificate. Employees are entitled to two and a half (2.5) days per year for Dental leave.

BR Electoral Mandate/Court Mandate

You are entitled to two (2) working days per year to exercise an electoral mandate (“mesário”) and more two (2) days to attend the court if requested. A declaration must be delivered to your local HR for validation.

BR Maternity (Prior to Birth)

Pregnant mothers have up to nine (9) working days per pregnancy period to go to the doctor for medical procedures and examinations. A doctor`s certificate must be delivered to your local HR for validation.

BR Pregnancy Partner (Prior to Birth)

Employee who are father have up to two (2) days per pregnancy event to accompany medical consultations and complementary examinations during the period of pregnancy of your spouse or partner. A doctor`s certificate must be delivered to your local HR for validation.

BR Blood Donation

You are entitled to 1 day per year for blood donation. It must be used in the same day that you donate the blood and it is required to present the doctor`s certificate to your local HR.

BR Nursing

Employees who have child(ren) up to ten (10) years old, have three (3) consecutive business days or twenty-four (24) split hours per year to bring the child to the doctor. A doctor`s certificate must be delivered to your local HR for validation.

BR Union Day

As per Union agreement, FTE employees are entitled to three (3) days per year to spend with unexcused absences.

BR Domestic Crisis

Employees have two (2) business days or sixteen (16) fractional hours per year to take the parents to the doctor. A doctor`s certificate must be delivered to your local HR for validation.

BR Cancer Screening

You are entitled to four (4) days per year to do a Cancer screening. A doctor`s certificate must be delivered to your local HR for validation.

BR School Exams

During school exams, the worker can leave one (1) hour earlier from day of work. school declaration must be delivered to your local HR for validation.

BR Vestibular Exams

Leave day to perform school exams in order to get entrance in universities for degree. You are entitled to one (1) day per exam and it must be used in the same day you are doing your examination. A university declaration must be delivered to your local HR for validation.

Scheduling Time Away from Work

  • All Time Off days planned or unplanned, must be discussed with your manager. If an absence is unexpected, you should notify your manager as soon as reasonably possible.
  • Record your Time Away days via Workday [VMware network access required] prior to the Payroll cutoff by using the corresponding code.

Carry Forward

These plans are granted on an event basis. These are not transferrable, payable, nor can be used for any other purposed than the one they are intended for.
