VMware believes that leave is an instrument of work-life balance and recognizes that fathers play an important role in raising children. To support this, VMware provides Paternity Leave so that you can take the necessary time off work to bond with your new baby.
All active employees of VMware on the date of the birth or placement for adoption are eligible. No birth or adoption event will be eligible, if it happened before your VMware date of hire.
If you have newborn child(ren) or newly adopted child(ren) join your family, you are eligible for up to four (4) paid weeks to bond with your new child(ren). You will have one (1) year from the date of birth or legal placement into your home to take advantage of these four weeks. The four (4) weeks can be taken all at once or in weekly increments.
Paternity Leave pays 100% of your base pay for up to four (4) work weeks. Employees will not, under any circumstance be entitled to receive more than 100% of their wages while taking Paternity Leave.
Scheduling Paternity Leave
Discuss your Paternity Leave plans, in advance, with your manager. While business requirements must be taken into consideration, your manager will work with you to ensure that work load does not restrict you from taking Paternity Leave. Once your manager approves your Paternity Leave you will need to enter your leave in Workday [VMware network access required].
Once you return from Paternity Leave you will need to provide a copy of the birth certificate to HR Source [VMware network access required] and report your Paternity Leave time, via email to the Payroll team. Be sure to include your manager on all communications.
